With its doors and windows carved in the Newar style, its ceiling frescoes painted by a great Tibetan master and its hanging brick gardens, Hotel Vajra is one of the flagships of Nepalese architecture. It was built with local materials in the style of the Nepalese pagoda. Located on the foothills of Swayambhunath, it overlooks the Kathmandu valley. Every Tuesday, one of the best traditional dance shows in the city is performed in the hotel grounds. A must-see address where it's best to book.
