HONOLULU MUSEUM OF ART
Museum with the largest collection of Asian art in the United States and European paintings by renowned artists.
Founded in 1927, the Honolulu Museum of Arts has the largest collection of Asian art in the United States. It also has European paintings by renowned artists such as Monet, Modigliani, Cézanne and Matisse. The remarkable architecture of the museum with its white walls and tile roofs is impressive. It was built by New York architect Bertram Goodhue in the 1920s, and many other buildings in Hawaii have imitated this style, creating what is known as typical Hawaiian architecture. In addition to the permanent collections, the temporary exhibitions allow visitors to appreciate and discover the talents of local artists, who are very active in Hawaii. The museum also has a very nice restaurant and café open to all. You can have lunch in a nice patio with a healthy and rather well mastered cuisine. Also note that every Friday and Saturday the museum extends its opening hours until 9pm for HoMa Nights allowing to explore art under a more nocturnal aspect with live concerts. Atmosphere guaranteed! From 5pm to 8pm on Friday and from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, the museum offers activities on the theme of color and the importance of its choice in a work of art, accessible to children and adults. Finally, free one-hour guided tours are offered at 2pm from Thursday to Sunday. You can reserve your time online. Don't hesitate to visit the museum's website to consult the current exhibitions and upcoming events during your stay.
