INDIAN LODGE & BLACK BEAR RESTAURANT

This charming lodge is located on Highway 118, which climbs in mountains at the exit of Fort Davis. In the heart of the National Park of the Davis Mountains, it is a collection of white mud (Adobe) built by the New Deal Corps Conservation Corps in the 1930 s. We love the large terrace and the swimming pool overlooking the valley, the white of the walls which reflect the sun, the warm and comforting simplicity of the rooms and the huge fireplace in the atrium and the lounge. Trails leave all around to discover the Davis Mountains. We love this place in the quiet mountains. The Black Bear Restaurant serves a wonderful breakfast. In general, natural park restaurants are often poor value for money. But here the card is careful, well prepared dishes and prices are reasonable.
