BOB BULLOCK TEXAS STATE HISTORY MUSEUM
Museum that traces the most significant events in Texas history, using pictorial and audio materials
The museum's permanent exhibit is divided into three main sections: the discovery of Texas, the construction of the Texas identity, and the development of opportunity. Each of these sections traces the most significant events in Texas history, using pictorial and audio materials, and period artifacts. We will see the expedition of Panfilo de Narvaez who reached the shores of Galveston for the first time in 1528, the development of Spanish missions throughout the state, the plan of Moses Austin to bring American families to the then Mexican territory, the resistance of the Indian populations, the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, the Texas revolution and the battle of San Jacinto, the wealth of Texas and its development, the conquest of space, etc. Of particular interest is the exhibition on oil and its discovery, 'Texas Oil and Gas'. Bringing together the history of the oil boom with interactive scientific content, one discovers in depth the history of how oil changed Texas. And they have ambitions to open an exhibit dedicated to the T-Rex dinosaur in 2025 as well as a shark exhibit that will be open until spring 2024. In addition, IMAX theaters are showing short films about Texas and other such films. In a word, this museum is not to be missed, because, in a very didactic form, it condenses the fascinating history of this state like no other.
