Morgan City was the centre of the Black Gold Rush (Black Gold Rush) and developed an important oil industry. This is the only opportunity to visit an oil platform still active (about workers working there), called "Mr Charlie". Built in 1952, it is the forerunner of drilling platforms on the high seas; it is 75 m long and 30 m wide. It is located on the Atchafalaya, at its intersection with the Intercostals Waterway.
