The National National Park covers an area of 3 000 km ² of tropical rainforest and lies between the rivers Ogooué and Ivindo. The park includes the Naturelle nature reserve protected since 1971 and integrated into UNESCO's MAB programme. This park has a great concentration of animal species, one can observe, among other things, buffalo, elephants, several species of monkeys, antelopes, potamochères… and in the canopy level one can see (or hear) many bird species, including the famous Picatharte. In addition to its extraordinary biodiversity, the park covers the most beautiful waterfalls in Central Africa (the falls of Kongou and Mingouli) in its northern part. These falls, 300 m wide, are impressive and surrounded by dense vegetation. To the south of the park was discovered the bai (or clearing in pygmy) of Langoué. This large open wetland is a place of high concentration in gorillas and elephants. Facilities have been constructed (platforms built in height) to observe the many animals coming out of the forest to take the sun.
