SAINT-FRANCOIS-XAVIER CATHOLIC MISSION

Adjacent to the sisters' community, the Saint-François-Xavier mission dates from 1880. It is the oldest architectural ensemble in Lambaréné and one of the best preserved. The church, with its remarkable architecture, faces the Ogooué River which it dominates. Around the church, buildings on two levels are built in pink brick. A historical site that deserves a visit. The complex faces the Catholic cemetery where Rose Rogombé, president of the Senate from 2009 to 2015, is buried.
