Built in 1964, this church hosts a lively Mass on Sunday mornings, accompanied by songs in Mpongwe

After the bus station, following Leon Mba Street, you arrive at the Saint-Michel de Nkembo church, built in 1964. The friezes above the doors and the wooden pillars were beautifully sculpted by a Gabonese artist, Zéphyrin Lendogno. The main altar, the Christ on the cross, the lectern, the statues of the Virgin and of Saint Michael were made by Juan Ndong. A very lively Mass, with an accompaniment of songs in Mpongwe, which filled the church on Sunday morning.

Située dans le quartier populaire de Nkembo, l'église St Michel vaut le détour pour la qualité et l'originalité de ces sculptures, à l'extérieur et à l'intérieur de l'édifice. Une mosaïque décore également le fronton de l'église. Une statue de St Michel, très colorée, est située sur le parvis dans un petit enclos.
