Wolf is a popular island for divers and is visited by many dive cruise boats, for whom it serves as an overnight shelter. With Darwin, they are the furthest from the mainland. It takes a good night's sailing to reach them from Santa Cruz. Wolf, like Darwin, is home to hundreds of sharks of various species, manta rays and an impressive underwater fauna. Wolf is the second most northerly island of the archipelago. It was named after the German geologist Franz Theodor Wolf. A large number of birds can be seen here. Offshore, whales, sharks and dolphins share the waters.
