FIESTAS DE SANTIAGO DEL MAYOR

During the festivities of the Patron Saint of Guayaquil, large white and light blue flags, the colors of the city, adorn most balconies. To celebrate the Holy Year of Compostela 2021, a bronze statue of the Apostle St. James, created by Nixon Córdoba, was inaugurated in Guayaquil on May 10, 2019. The monument highlights the importance of the Camino de Santiago and the relationship between Ecuador and Spain, where thousands of Ecuadorians emigrated.
