BUTTERFLY GARDEN
The place was at the base a private initiative of a naturalist who was passionate about Honduran nature. It was adopted in 2016 by new managers. There are beautiful native butterfly species (high on site), listening to the gentle whisper of a small waterfall in a refreshing green setting. Then you pass a small bridge (if you're lucky, you can see huge lizards) to reach a greenhouse of orchids (more than 200 native species, some unusual), arranged on two floors (the low section reproduces the fresh and humid climate of sempervirentes forests). The best season for flowering extends from July to September or from February to April. The whole one deserves a visit and the entry rate, which may appear high, reflects the work provided and the reserved reception (you will be given an explanatory prospectus for the butterflies and orchids).
