Although the city can be visited on foot, a vehicle will be necessary to go to its surroundings. Of course, chicken-buses serve villages such as Ciudad Vieja and San Juan del Obispo, but you will have to systematically go back to Antigua to discover a new place. The easiest way is to order an Uber, which is quite affordable. If you want to see as much as possible in a day or an afternoon, don't hesitate to negotiate a package deal with your driver, asking him to wait for you between each stop.
