The Asociación Talamanqueña de Ecoturismo y Conservación, founded in 1990, is one of the pioneers in the field of ecotourism. It works to develop tourism that respects the environment and human beings in the canton of Talamanca, and also has a mission to promote and participate in the conservation of indigenous cultures. Since its creation, the association has employed some one hundred naturalist guides. A genuine platform for the tourism industry, ATEC offers a wide range of day and multi-day excursions.
