LIBERTAD PARK

The heart of the historic district, Parque de la Libertad was built here around 1800. Little by little, the square has become the focal point of the city's history and architecture. It is home to the excellent pharmaceutical museum, the Spanish Casino, the Velasco Theater, the Velasco Hotel and the City Hall building. It is impossible to miss the statue of José Martí that dominates the whole. Historically, this is where the public executions took place. It is a must-see when visiting the city.
