TONLE TOUCH
A hundred-kilometre long river, leaving the Mekong at Kompong Cham and joining the Mekong at Banam, in a lush setting
It's a long river, some 100 km long, which leaves the Mekong at Kampong Cham and joins it at Banam, downstream from Phnom Penh. A trip down the Tonle Touch has nothing in common with a trip up the Mekong. The immense expanse of flat water as far as the eye can see gives way to a deep dive into a lush green paradise where the river meanders endlessly. We catch the Khmers in all their familiar pursuits: fishing, cooking, bathing, playing and so on. All along the way, it's all shouts of joy and screams from children delighted to see Barangs on a boat.
