PRASAT NEANG KHMAO
Temple of the Black Madonna in Takeo, formerly comprising five shrines built in two lines running north-south.
The last two towers of Prasat Néang Khmao, the Temple of the Black Madonna, may well be the remains of an ancient Kali shrine. This temple was once linked to Phnom Chisor by a Khmer causeway that can still be seen clearly from the top of Phnom Chisor. The temple comprised five sanctuaries built in two lines running north-south, two of which are still standing. These square brick towers are open to the east and bear 7th-century inscriptions - at least the one on the left, as the other was burnt down by the Khmer Rouge.
