Located opposite the Old State House, this site is marked by cobblestones that form a circle. This is where the patriots' resistance to the English occupation, which began in 1768, ended in bloodshed. On March 5, 1770, an English soldier lost his temper and fired, killing five men, including Crispus Attucks, the first black American to die for the patriotic cause. The site of this massacre then served as a rallying point for supporters of the American Revolution, those who wanted to rid the country of the yoke of the British Crown.
