In September 1862, during the civil war, the battle of Antietam Creek (also called Battle of Sharpsburg) was the first major confrontation of this conflict on the northern lands. This battle, which lasted only one day, claimed 23 000 dead and wounded, and was one of the bloodiest in American history. This is the story of this battle that is told here.
