80 km from Gorom-Gorom, passing through Oursi, is Gandéfabou, a small Tamashek village made famous by its Edjef camp. After Oursi, the track is very sandy (4x4 required) and it is strongly recommended to go there with a guide of the camp that we will have found at Gorom-Gorom, at the relay of the Edjef camp. After 40 km of track, we reach the camp whose name means "dune" in Tamashek. The camp is indeed set on a large sandy dune in the semi-desert landscape of the Sahel. The setting is particularly beautiful, dominating the bed of a river most of the time on dry land. It is also possible to reach the camp via Déou.On the program, all the essential stages of the Sahel, but also the most remote points such as the Christine borehole on the banks of the Beli River. It is possible to organize visits to markets, the discovery of Tamashek and Fulani villages, as well as major Sahelian tours beyond the borders of Burkina Faso to Mali or Niger. You can also spend a few days on the dune to simply soak up the atmosphere, pushing the excursion only in the immediate surroundings of the town, a concentrate of Sahel, where archaeological excavations have brought to light some vestiges of the past. Gandéfabou becomes an institution in the Sahel, a quality experience.
