A border city of 6,000 inhabitants, with no tourist interest, Kantchari announces the neighbouring Niger by a certain aridity. The small customs post is only 130 km from Niamey. The traveller will only have to stop there once to the neighbouring country, or will simply continue to Fada or Diapaga depending on the direction of travel. The paucity of its hotel offer makes it a very bad stopover for the night.In June 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised its nationals not to travel to the border area with Niger.
