BENSON HOTEL
Funded by businessman and philanthropist Simon Benson, the hotel is one of the city's emblematic buildings. Simon Benson, who made a fortune in the wood industry, will also leave Oregon several present, like Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, or Benson Bubblers, around fountains that allow for free drinking at all times throughout the city.
Inaugurated in 1913, this hotel was built to give Portland luxury accommodation, which would attract businessmen and tourists who began arriving at the beginning of the th century. Today, the Benson lost nothing of its superb. The rooms are bright and elegant, some are lit by heavy glass chandeliers. The service is impeccable, the staff is in three pieces suit. A restaurant serves breakfast and dinner on-site.
