Those who love the wild landscapes will head west on the roads along Loch Rannoch (after Pitlochry on the A 9, take B 8019 and B 846). Rannoch Moor is one of the most unusual places in Europe, without housing or road (the B 846 stops at Rannoch Station). The land of these moorland is so swamp that the rails of the railway must be on floating wood rafts. After Rannoch Station station, there is nothing left. You must continue on foot, in the bush, to bypass the lakes or climb, for example, the Ben Alder to northeast of Rannoch Station, the most inaccessible of Scotland's peaks.
