The Bizkaia Bridge, also known as the Suspension Bridge, is one of the most famous icons of Getxo, in the Basque region of Euskadi. It links the two banks of the Nervión ria between Portugalete and Getxo. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006, it is the oldest ferry bridge in the world and a witness to the history of Bizkaia. It offers three ways of crossing the ria: the pedestrian footbridge, the suspended gondola and the canoe. The pedestrian bridge offers extraordinary views from the panoramic elevator, open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The Bizkaia Bridge is a must-see for visitors to Getxo.
