Since 1872, the Casa de Misericordia has been located in a noble building of eclectic style built by the architect Antonio de Goicoechea
Founded in 1774, the Casa de Misericordia was built as a place of welcome for people in need. Since 1872 it has occupied a noble building of eclectic style built by the architect Antonio de Goicoechea and inaugurated by King Amédée I of Spain. Its chapel is dedicated to Saint Mammes, a child martyr who, according to legend, tamed the lions of the circus into which he was thrown. Its century-old gardens have more than 40 different species.
