The scene of the great annual celebrations, the neoclassical square in the heart of the Parte Vieja in Donostia
At the heart of the Parte Vieja, this square is the setting for the great annual celebrations such as the Tamborrada (January 20) and the Santo Tomás festival (December 21). Its large central building, in neoclassical style, housed the town hall until the 1940s, before it moved to the old casino on the banks of La Concha. Notice the numbers on the balconies of the square; they were once used as grandstands, when bullfights were held in the square! Today, many pintxos bars are concentrated under its arcades.

Très belle et grande place bordés de cafés, on y retrouve l'esprit "arènes " . Typique avec ces fenêtres numérotées. A découvrir

En provenance du port nous sommes arrivés au hasard par des petites ruelles sur cette immense et magnifique place. Tout est magnifiquement aligné comme un réglage au cordeau. Très belle architecture .On peut apercevoir des numéros sur les fenêtres balcons correspondant historiquement aux emplacements des célébrations de la tauromachie. Beaucoup de cafés et de bars à tapas. A visiter.

Une petite belote en terrasse en sirotant un café ... et on repart....

On arrive par surprise sur cette place authentique qui fut des arènes il y a un temps, nous pouvons encore apercevoir les numéros des loges sur les logements de la place. Très sympathique d’y boire un café, ambiance locale assurée.
