FUERTE DE SAN MARCOS

Built in the ^19th century to defend Errenteria during the Second Carlist War, this military structure is located atop Mount Bizarain, at an altitude of 260 metres. The fort, occupied by the army until 1970, is now part of the Lau Haizeta nature park. It houses a tourist information center with replica cannons. Information panels are available in several languages. A veritable vantage point over the region, the site offers fine views as far as the Bay of La Concha, Pasaia and Txingudi.
