SANTUARIO DE NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE

This sanctuary built in the 16th century is located outside Hondarribia, on the road that leads to Mount Jaizkibel. The Virgin of Guadalupe, patron saint of the city, and one of the eight Black Virgins of Gipuzkoa, is venerated here. Inside, its temple has undergone various modifications, the last of which dates from the 19th century. Every year, on 8 September, the residents go there in procession to thank the Virgin for protecting Hondarribia during the siege of 1638.
