NATIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM

The museum presents elements of both national cultures together, it is important to visit it to get an idea of their complicated history. The Circassian Kabards and the Turkic Balkars have been neighbours since the 11th century, but have cohabited within the same republic for only a century. At issue: the ethnic engineering of Stalin, who twice mixed Caucasian and Turkic peoples (with Karachayevo-Cherkessia) in order to drown nationalisms.
