SHALYAPIN HOUSE-MUSEUM

This museum is very successful in the house-museum genre. Often the main interest is more the house itself than the life of its famous occupant. This is the case here: Shalyapin was a brilliant lyric singer who emigrated to France during the Revolution. His work is incredible, but little known to the general public. But the house is sublime, a resplendent example of the architecture of the "kourort" (seaside) towns of the late 19th century. Not to be missed!
