35 km from Rostov on the road to Taganrog, the archaeological site of Tanaïs (from the ancient Greek name of the Don) is the remnant of an ancient Greek colony that was formed between the 3rd and 4th centuries at the mouth of the Don. Without an agency, Tanaïs is not easily accessible. A taxi from Rostov will be able to make the round trip without difficulty for about 1 500 RUB depending on the time spent there. For lovers of public transport, you should go to the bus station in Rostov and take a bus to Taganrog and ask the driver to stop you at the nearest crossroads, and you will have 30 minutes walking time left.
