PIAZZA SOBORNAIA

Literally "Cathedral Square", this vast square is the historical center of Vladimir. On either side of it are the Dimistrysky and Uspensky cathedrals, as well as the impressive building of the local Duma (the place where the assemblies of the nobility and later the regional Zemstvo and soviets met after the revolution) built in 1826 in a typical provincial style. The right wing, a little later, was once a boys' school, attended by the famous Stoletov brothers.
