OBELISQUE

Inaugurated in 1960 on the occasion of the city's anniversary, the obelisk brings together three figures: a warrior facing the golden gate through which the enemy arrives, an architect facing the cathedrals and a worker facing the agricultural machinery factory carrying a symbolic small tractor. Thus we read the destiny of the inhabitants who went from being warriors and builders of the most important city in the Slavic world to hardworking socialists for Moscow. Today, the serious recession in Russia tints this obelisk with a certain nostalgia.
