NERO LAKE
This name, of Finno-Ugric origin, means "swampy" because if the lake covers a very large area it is shallow. You can canoe at your leisure or fish for freshwater fish (there are sixteen species of freshwater fish sold at the Rostov market). The lake participates in the fortune of Rostov-le-Grand because its easily accessible bottom is full of loess: a very fertile silt which allows Rostov to be one of the great market gardening regions of Russia. The place is obviously more advisable in summer than in winter, transformed into an ice rink.
