RED PALAIS
To the left of the main entrance is the building of the "red palace", or "beautiful palace" (since the two adjectives translate into the same word in ancient Russian). It opens with a beautiful neoclassical pavilion before continuing with a large refectory for social functions. The building was built quickly between 1670 and 1680 to be the residence of the Moscow princes when they stopped in Rostov the Great on their travels. Today you will find a historical exhibition and a restaurant serving Russian cuisine.
