Ishigaki is the most important island of the Yaeyama archipelago and serves, by plane and by boat, the other islands of the group. It is located about 400 km southwest of Okinawa. Welcoming, the island located 410 km southwest of Okinawa-hontō has fine sandy beaches and pleasant nature. Its capital, populated by some 40,000 dynamic inhabitants, is the southernmost city in Japan. As you will notice when you arrive, the city is full of flowers and the houses have red tile roofs. The island concentrates almost all the tropical landscapes: you can see rice fields, sugar cane fields, but also mountains and forests that are close to the jungle. With its shape, vaguely reminiscent of an axe, the capital is located at the very south. The airport is located to the east, about 5 km from the capital.
