KUMAMOTO PREFECTURAL MUSEUM OF ART

This museum designed by the Japanese architect Maekawa Kunio is located not far from the castle. The low architecture of the place allows it to blend into the natural landscape that surrounds it. There are several categories of exhibitions in this museum: ancient Japanese art, modern Japanese art and Western art. The visitor will be able to contemplate, among other things, ukiyo-e prints, kofuns (megalithic tombs), armors or noh masks. The café overlooks the castle.
