NATIONAL MUSEUM OF KYŪSHŪ
In a very modern building, this museum offers a very nice collection on the cultural exchanges between Japan and the rest of Asia, of which Kyūshū was for a long time the symbol. It is one of the four national museums of Japan, behind those of Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. Its opening in 2005 was therefore a major event, as the first three museums had been established in the 19th century. The museum's collections focus on Japanese art from the Palaeolithic to the Edo period. The visit is divided into five main themes.
