This site, built in 1754, was originally the secondary residence of Kuroda Tsugutaka, the 6th lord of Fukuoka. It is the first Japanese garden in Fukuoka to be organized around a lake. Since 1998, the place is accessible to the general public. Towards the beginning of the Showa period, the main building was added, with its large halls and two teahouses (Jyosuian and Shozanan), where one can still enjoy Matcha and traditional pastries while contemplating the beautiful landscape.
