The Awa ningyō-jōruri is a famous puppet theatre in Awa province, although it was imported 400 years ago from Kamigata (around Kyōto). This theatre is made, directed and performed by and for the rural population of Awa. Nowadays, one can participate in Awa puppet theatre performances (11am on weekdays, 11am and 2pm on weekends.
