This museum houses a fine collection of 3,500 objects that belonged to the Taira clan. They are mainly handicrafts, weapons of war, Bugaku dance masks and musical instruments. Among these numerous objects, 130 of them are classified as "Important Cultural Properties" or "National Treasures" such as the Taira Clan scrolls. The museum is a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal to the southwest.
