KIBITSU-JINJA SHRINE
Founded in the5th century and rebuilt in 1425, the main building of this Shintō shrine is dedicated to Prince Kibitsuhiko-no-mikoto, who was sent by the Yamatoa imperial court to subdue the province of Kibi. The shrine has been recognized as a Japanese national treasure. It is also characterized by its vast corridor of 360 m long. Kibitsu-jinja Shrine is closely associated with the character who is said to have inspired the famous Japanese tale "Momotaro". Momomamori", romantic peach-shaped amulets, are sold here.
