WADA RESIDENCE
This house-museum, with its traditional Gassho-Zukuri architecture, dates from around 1800. It contains objects belonging to the Wada family, who have lived in this house for over two centuries. The members of this family were at that time officials at the guardhouse. It is the largest house of this style in Shirakawa-go, so it is definitely worth a visit. The main house, the warehouse and the outbuilding have been designated as important cultural properties. Its surrounding gardens and waterway add a poetic touch to the visit.
