SAISHO-IN TEMPLE

The temple houses a large five-story pagoda, over 30 meters high, built in 1667 by the^3rd Lord Nobuyoshi. It is considered to be the most beautiful pagoda in Tokoku. It was built during the Edo period using a nail-less construction method. It is designated as an important cultural heritage site of the archipelago. Again, the temple's cherry trees blooming in spring provide a beautiful backdrop to the pagoda. In the same area of Saisho-in Temple is a statue dedicated to Kukai.
