Before the opening of the Seikan tunnel linking Honshu to Hokkaido by Shinkansen, the strait was crossed by sea. The Hakkōdamaru, an emblematic ferry that operated this link for 80 years, is now moored in Aomori and converted into a museum. Here you can discover the city's maritime history through dioramas, models and period objects. The panoramic view of the bay from the navigation deck is breathtaking. An original visit.
