On the rugged coast of Shiosezaki, in the south of the peninsula, stands a curious stone silhouette dubbed "Godzilla Rock" for its resemblance to the famous Japanese kaiju. This rock, formed some 30 million years ago by volcanic deposits, is one of the geological curiosities of the Cape Shiosezaki geosite. The most spectacular time to see it is at sunset, especially in April and October, when the light-reddened clouds seem to shoot out of its "mouth" like a flame. The site is a magnet for photographers.
