VILLAGE OGA ONSENKYO
The spa village of Oga Onsenkyo is said to have been discovered in the early 9th century by general Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. The first traces of bathing can be found in the Edo period. The spring was prized by Lord Satake. Its salty water, renowned for its benefits to the skin, retains its warmth long after bathing, making it an ideal destination for spa enthusiasts. Several hotels and ryokan offering half-board accommodation are scattered around the village. It's the ideal place to put down your suitcase for a night when driving to Oga.
