A must-see, the Aoyagi-ke mansion traces 400 years of samurai history. A former vassal's house of the Ashina, then Satake-Kita lords, it covers almost a hectare. There are several small "museums", a refined garden and over 30,000 objects: swords, painted scrolls, toys, outfits and documents, some of which are classified as Cultural Heritage. Unlike a traditional museum, everything comes from the family's real life. Open to the public since 1989, this residence invites us to take a leap back in time.
