PARC KAJO
Yamagata Castle, built in 1592 by the feudal lord Yoshiaki Mogami, is one of the 100 most beautiful castles in Japan. Transformed into Kajo Park after the Second World War, it is home to 1,500 cherry trees, which offer a magnificent spectacle, especially around the moat, which is illuminated in season. Partly restored, it now boasts rebuilt main gates and an equestrian statue of Yoshiaki Mogami, a symbol of the region's development. The park is also home to popular cultural museums, making it a key Yamagata site. Perfect for a leisurely stroll.
