SAKYUKAN

Built in 1933 to house the directors of the Niigata branch of the Bank of Japan, the Sakyukan today houses a cultural center open to the public free of charge. With its nine Japanese rooms, Western lounges and warehouse converted into an art gallery, this house blends tradition and innovation, like its central corridor which once offered more privacy. Its elevated position offers a breathtaking view of the city. The sublime Japanese garden can be admired throughout the year. A pleasant surprise.
