Thanks to the reopening of Japanese ports in 1853, international trade resumed and Chinese merchants settled in Kobe, a city reputed to be prosperous. In two perpendicular streets there are more than a hundred restaurants, street food stalls selling dimsum, meat buns, gyozas and bubble tea, but also tea and trinkets shops. Red lanterns and pagodas send us some 3,000 kilometres from Japan. A beautiful Chinatown.
